Claire Elaine Wilson

Meet Claire Elaine Wilson. She was born on November 24th at 5:42pm. She weighted 7 lbs 3 oz and was 19.5 inches long. She has beautiful big blue eyes, warm skin and dirty blond hair.

Since Claire was 8 days late, we decided to move forward with being induced. It was such a different experience than my first labor. We arrived at the hospital early in the morning, excited to get checked in and get things going. Little did I know it would take 12 hours for us to meet baby Claire.
We had a few hiccups along the way. One being Claire's heart rate dropping as labor progressed more quickly than either of us could handle, so we had to take a brief hiatus during labor.  Also, at the time of deliver, we learned that she was sunny side up. Luckily my doctor was able to turn Claire around right before delivering her. It was a long day filled with many emotions and a happy ending! I'm so lucky to have an amazing husband who held my hand through the entire day and a talented doctor who was able to provide me hope and confidence that we'd get through each complication we faced.

41 Weeks Pregnant

We knew from the beginning my due date was questionable as my Dr. in Boston said my due date was Nov. 16th where as Dr. Phillips here in Austin thought based on my innitial sonogram that my due date would be closer to Nov. 20th (although he decided not to change the date in my chart). Well here we are at Nov. 23 and I'm still pregnant.  Dr. Phillips won't let me go more than a week past my due date so we are schedule to be induced on Monday, Nov. 24 at 7:00am. The good news is we did a sonogram last week and there's plenty of amniotic fluid around the baby and he/she looks healthy.  We're looking forward to becoming a family of 4 tomorrow!

Happy Halloween: Weekend 1 of 2

Although this is Avery's 2nd Halloween, it's her first time to really enjoy it. Luckily she's at an age where she can start to participate in some of the activities.  Little did I know, at this age, there are so many Hallowing activities and parties to attend, who know it was such a big deal!  I remember when I was younger, it was just a one night event. Avery will be celebrating Halloween for two full weeks!

We kicked off the holiday with a kids party at Barton Creek Country Club. On one floor they had activities for the younger kids such as a critters section including all sorts of snakes, turtles and lizards, a candy bar, witches ring toss and a haunted picture station. Up stairs was the older kids party including 2 bouncy houses, a DJ, pumpkin decorating and a hula hoop filled dance party.

Avery was a strawberry, and believe it or not she kept her hat on the entire time! Elise was a glamorous witch.

36 Weeks Pregnant

36 Week Sonogram
At 36 weeks pregnant, I had a full anatomy sonogram where they took measurements of all the babies body parts. This was so fun! The heart was beating so strong, the mouth was opening and closing and the hair was sticking out in a wave like motion. The sonogram tech told us baby Wilson is measuring at about 5lbs and 11oz. She also mentioned that baby Wilson has short legs, a small head and an average sized belly. Over all he/she is measuring very small based on a November 16th due date. I'm not sure that this really means anything considering I still have a few more weeks to pack on the pounds, and to be honest, my weight gain and size is very close to how I was at this point with Avery. Here is one of the 3D pictures we were able to capture. The face is a little smooched, but it looks to have a Wilson nose and the big Smolik lips!

Fun Activities
This week Andrew and I attend the Woman's Symphony League Jewel Ball. As part of their 40th anniversary, they were honoring past members of the Jewel Court.  As a former Princess, my parents invited us and Kelly and Mark to attend the celebration.  I can't believe at 36 weeks I was able to find a formal dress that fit me! We had a great time eyeballing auction items and playing poker at the black jack table.

Showers and Parties Galore

Now that the house is finally set up, it's time to entertain!

Our first get together was dinner with Andrew's cousin Ethan, brother Reid and his wife Demetria. Ethan was in town for just 2 short days, visiting from New York. We only get to see Ethan once a year if we're lucky (considering he used to live in Paris), it was a treat for us all!

Last weekend I helped host a baby shower for one of my best friends from Tech, Karen Blackburn. Karen and Carter are expecting their first baby just two weeks before our little one is due. It's been so much fun being pregnant with all of my college friends (the first time around it was Sara, Paige and me. Now it's Karen, Paige, Emily and me)! Also, I couldn't have been more excited to have the shower at our house considering Karen has hosted many showers for Andrew and I here in Austin.

Here are a few pictures, courtesy of Paige!

Our second party was to celebrate Mom's birthday! It was a fun night and the weather was nice enough to sit outside for a bit! The only pic if have from this night is actually a great summary. Cupcake, Avery and Elise! There was a lot of running around playing, football and plenty of food!

The Austin Children's Museum

This past Sunday we took Avery and Elise to The Thinkery, the Austin Children's Museum. It was our first time to go and wow, we're MUST go back as there was so much to do there. The girls were so entertained we didn't even make it through the entire museum (after a 2 hour visit). Luckily with our Bank of America cards, we get free admission on the first weekend of every month. Looks like we'll be headed back to The Thinkery come October.
