Back to Reality

We survived our first week back to 'real life.'

This week I went back to work and Avery started daycare. The first day was the most difficult. I think Avery handled it much better than I did. Andrew said she was all smiles when he picked her up.

I think the most challenging thing to adjust to is following a daily routine. I now understand why my mom was always late! We're up by 5:45-6am and our day is off with a running start. Andrew and I tag team watching Avery and getting everything ready for the day. I do the morning daycare drop off while Andrew does the pickup.

Over the weekends I've started prepping meals for the week, given us a little more time in the evening to hangout as a family. If any other working moms have tips on how to make life a little less chaotic please share!

Here are is the story of our week:

Day 1: Ready to take on the day! My coworkers got me these
beautiful flowers for my first day back at work.

Day 2: We found a new way for Avery to join us at dinner time. She didn't really like being the center piece. I think she may still be to young for this super seat.

Day 3: Dad's in charge. Not sure what happened here but when all else fails, try a comfy T!

Day 4: Making tummy time last as long as possible! Avery has learned to be patient.

Day 5: I locked us out of the house (for the 3rd time in the past 2 weeks). So, we decided to go to happy hour.
By the time we got home, everyone was exhausted!

3 Months Old

Avery Elizabeth Wilson: April 20, 2013

Our little angel is 3 months old! What a blessing she has been. I feel so lucky to have been home with her these past 3 months. We've become best buds! She amazes me everyday by showing me something new. Lately she...

 - Loves bath time. Her first laugh was a few weeks ago while she was kicking and splashing in the tub.

- Wears size 1 diapers.

- Is in 0-3 months clothing.

- Weighs a little over 11 lbs.

- Is very outgoing and will let anyone hold her.

- Talks up a storm (in her own baby language of course).

- Has recently found her hands and loves to suck on them.

- Loves to look at herself in the mirror.

- Has started to grab at objects and will occasionally hold on to them.

- Enjoys reading bedtime stories with Daddy.

- Loves to watch TV. Lately I've been playing her YouTube videos of Nursery Rhymes/Songs. Her favorite is Old MacDonald.

- Finds the running stroller soothing.

- Falls asleep in the car seat with in minutes of the car moving.

- Prefers to sleep on her left side and will roll over there any chance she gets.

- Has the most sensitive skin ever! I swear she has a new rash or mark every time I look at her. And it cracks me up how the Pediatrician is always telling me to put Aquaphor on it.

Trip to Florida

Avery is a Frequent Flyer

Our 2nd trip while on maternity leave was to The Villages in Florida to visit Nana and Pops. Avery did a great job on the flight flashing her smile at all the passengers and taking a few short naps here and there. This was only a 2 hour flight from Boston so not too bad. I've become a little partial to flying Jet Blue since they fly direct to both Orlando & Austin, have a changing table in the bathroom and personal TVs (Avery loves to watch TV).

The weather in Florida couldn't have been better! It was such a nice change to go from 45 degrees to 85 degrees. Our sunny days were filled with lots of activities such as tennis, pickleball (my partner and I were undefeated I might add!), swimming and lots of relaxing. It was a great trip!

Out to dinner with Nana & Pops
Aunt Terry came for lunch one day and met Avery for the first time

Avery is 2 Months Old

Stats: 10lb 14oz & 23in

I can't believe our little angel is 2 months old.  As soon as we got back from Austin I couldn't wait to dress Avery up and have a little photo shoot.  With her 2 month sticker on a onesie and polkadot tutu on she was happy to play along.  Following the photo shoot, it was time for a morning bath.  If only I had noticed the wet rag dripping on my iPhone! All of our pictures were lost from that day (luckily I had backed up the night before).

Here are a few pictures of Avery enjoying life at month 2!

She is almost too big to sleep in the pack & play!
 She is over the snow!

Loves to hang out with her grandparents

 Story time is the best.
Getting much better at tummy time.
First flight was to Austin. She did great!

Happy Easter!

Easter in Austin

This year was so special this since my sister & brother in law had their baby Elise just 14 day's prior. Avery and Elise spent lots of time getting to know each other doing tummy time, playing with the family and just hanging out.

Cupcake put us in this awesome Easter Basket just right for our size!

Meet the Family

Even though Avery is already 2 months old, in Austin she was meeting many of her family members for the first time.  We were also able to make a trip down to Karnes City so Avery could meet her Great Grandmother.

Austin Sip & See

A few of my best friends from Texas Tech hosted a beautiful Sip & See Shower for Avery while we were in Austin. It was so great for everyone to finally get a chance to meet her, and for me to finally get to meet some of their little ones.
